Purpose:

The Director of Hygiene’s primary responsibilities are to maintain and continuously implement both clinical and professional standards into Chicagoland Smile Group’s hygiene practices. This position will focus on various areas that strengthen standards of care for patients, create a positive work environment that mirrors the CSG practice culture, insulates CSG from malpractice issues, and increase profitability for the CSG Hygiene Department and the entire CSG Team.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Update and disseminate policies and procedures that incorporate advances in dentistry, computerized diagnostic and treatment equipment, data processing technology, government regulations, and coding changes
  • Establish objectives and operational criteria for hygiene programs within practices
  • Design hygiene-focused instructional materials including health history forms and updates, hygiene prep and daily communication, chart audit protocols, patient education aides, and progress note templates
  • Positively impact operational metrics including reappointment rate through creation and execution of recare appointment and other procedures, clinician development and partnership with practice team members
  • Develop and implement soft tissue management program including the diagnoses, treatment, and maintenance of periodontal disease patients
  • Conduct chair-side supervision of hygienists. Ensure compliance with hygiene protocols. Identify opportunities for development and monitor progress
  • Lead quality assurance audit of hygiene chart notes. Monitor the use of diagnostic services, treatment plans, adjunct products, and referrals
  • Prepare productivity reports and inform management of the status and implementation plans of programs, services and quality initiatives
  • Partner with CSG Leadership to determine hygiene forums and continuing education topics
  • Advise CSG Leadership on Hygiene Formulary supply and equipment additions and coordinating vendor training when applicable
  • Evaluate and uphold consistent in office OSHA and HIPAA compliance; work closely with OSHA officers

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor or Master’s Degree (preferred)
  • Active State Hygiene License
  • Dental Hygiene Degree from an accredited program
  • Current CPR/AED certification
  • Maintain annual OSHA, HIPAA, and Infection Control training as required by law
  • Outstanding customer service skills and positive attitude and demeanor
  • Ability to travel locally up to 75% of time
